According to the database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Russia has announced a search warrant for Estonian Prime Minister Kaia Kalas on its territory.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs does not specify the reason or article that justifies the issuance of the order against the high official of a foreign country.
Kalas, 46, is one of the strongest voices in the European Union and NATO in favor of supplying weapons to Ukraine and tightening sanctions against Russia.
In January 2021, she became the first woman to head the Baltic country’s government, a position she resumed when her party won legislative elections last March.
Estonian State Secretary Taimar Peterkop was also wanted.
Russian President Vladimir Putin recently assured that his country has no plans to invade the three Baltic republics or Poland, which are NATO members.
