Russia also launched a wave of drones overnight, one of which crashed into infrastructure, although at least a dozen were shot down by air defenses, according to Oleg Kiper, president of the regional military administration.

Ukraine has warned for weeks that Russia may be amassing missiles to launch a major air campaign against the energy system. Last year, millions of people were left in the dark when Russian attacks hit the power grid.
