Hamas released 10 more Israeli hostages this Wednesday along with four Thai nationals and two Russians, the Israeli military confirmed after 11pm local time. Their release was delayed for several hours due to “technical problems”, but they were eventually handed over to the Red Cross to be transported to Israel later.
Qatari sources quoted by the Guardian newspaper claim that the released Israeli hostages are five women and five children. Among the freed group are a Dutch child, three Germans and an American of dual nationality, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari confirmed on Twitter.
The freed hostages are currently on their way to Israel via Egypt to a meeting point in Kerem Shalom, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed, adding that “security agents at the meeting point will verify the identities of the freed hostages.”
The operation came on the sixth day of a ceasefire in which two Palestinian children, aged 8 and 15, were killed by the Israeli army in the West Bank city of Jenin, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, and continued. Cease fire in Gaza after more than a month and a half of war.
