Judges support brainstem test to determine if boy is dead
According to a Supreme Court judge, experts are expected to determine whether an unconscious 12-year-old boy died from a “catastrophic” brain injury in his home case. I am.
Judge Arbuthnot ruled in a hearing in the Family Division of the London High Court on Friday that a brainstem examination would benefit Archie Battersbee.
Experts treating Archie at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, eastern London, believe that the death of a teenager is “likely” and says life-saving treatment must end.
A regular customer of the Barts Health NHS Trust, the hospital’s administrative trust, asked the judge to determine that a brainstem test would benefit Archie.
One expert told the judge that the brainstem was responsible for the ability to keep people alive.
Archie’s parents, Holly Dance (46) and Paul Buttersby (56), are both away from the Southend of Essex and are concerned about their doctor’s recommendations and want to continue treatment.
They questioned the reliability of the test, fearing it would be more harmful, and wondering why Archie, who lives with her mother, did not receive treatment to relieve swelling in her brain.
Dance shares how he found Archie in a tie on April 7th and believes he may have participated in an online contest.
She urged the judge to give her son, an avid gymnast, “more time.”
“Everyone is in a hurry,” he told PA news agency.
“I ask the judge to give him more time-to give him time to fight.”
He added: “In just five weeks, it took me more time to recover from the flu. What is the urgency?”

Judge Arbus Knot oversaw a private hearing, but Archie said it could be mentioned in media coverage of the case.
A campaign organization called the Christian Legal Center said it would support Archie’s family.
“Family and clinicians need to know the results of this test,” Judge Arbuthnot said in a Friday decision. He said.
“I have a human understanding of family pain.
“Everyone can understand how much they must be afraid of the consequences.”
Bruno Quintavalle, a lawyer representing Archie’s family, told the judge:
Dance and Buttersby, who cried at the time of the decision, left the hearing without commenting on the reporters.
