Humeniuk: the Russians continue to shell the right bank of the Kherson region, despite the evacuation

Even in the face of humanitarian evacuation, the Russian occupation forces continue to bombard the right bank of the Kherson region. Natalija Humeniuk, head of the Joint Press Center of the Southern Operational Command, said this on the airwaves of the country’s telebridge “Jungtinės žinios”.

“The situation is really complicated… The enemy continues to bombard the right bank, continues to terrorize the civilian population even in the face of humanitarian evacuation, and at the same time continues to spread the information that it is Defense combat actions Forces that prevent the evacuation of the population of the left bank Obviously such information is unacceptable to the civilized world, everyone sees and understands that the Defense Forces do not target the civilians. We know for sure that where there are civilians affected by flooding, our shelling does not take place,” said N. Humeniuk.

The spokeswoman also said that following the behavior of the enemy on the left bank, it can be said that he began to withdraw his units a few days before the attack.

N. Humeniuk confirmed that the Defense Forces were prepared for such a scenario, since last October the President warned against the mining of the Kachovka hydroelectric power station by the enemy.

She also said that blaming the Defense Forces for blowing up the dam is a classic Russian propaganda technique, which is why they pointed it out from the start.

In response to a question about the positions of the enemy group in the temporarily occupied territories, N. Humeniuk said: “They retreated at different distances, depending on the water spill – from 5 to 15 km, but they did not still did not stop bombarding the right bank, even as the police and the rescuers evacuated the residents, they fired on the districts of Kherson which were flooded”.

At the same time, she noted that the enemy still has the opportunity to shell the right bank of the Kherson region, but the water is approaching, and the Defense Forces are trying to push them back at least 30 km by shelling to prevent artillery attacks. .

On June 6, Russian soldiers blew up the Kachovka HPP dam. It is impossible to restore the hydroelectric plant. Evacuation of people from flooded areas continues.

Andrijus Yusov, a representative of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Council, said the Kachovka HPP explosion is a long-prepared Russian terrorist attack.
