Reznikov: Ukraine will not use F-16 fighters during summer counterattack

In the counterattack planned for this summer, Ukraine will not use F-16 fighter jets, but we will use all ground weapons in combat.

As “Ukrinform” reports, this was stated by Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov in an interview with the NHK TV channel.

Asked about the F-16 fighter jets, which Ukraine has long wanted to receive, O. Reznikov said that they will not change the situation this summer.

Some Western countries are training or have volunteered to train Ukrainian pilots to fly these fighters.

Mr. Reznikov noted that the training of Ukrainian pilots will take time and that Ukraine still has to agree with its partners on the engineers and technical personnel who will be able to maintain and repair these planes.

The minister added that Ukraine will be ready to deploy F-16s in autumn or winter.

As Ukrinform previously reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the country’s armed forces are ready to launch a counterattack, but this process will take time and come at a high price.
