During an interview in a television studio, the pope again called for peace

Pope Francis, in his first appearance at a major television studio on Sunday, again called for peace and spoke out against war.

“It’s a story as old as humanity: with peace you always win, maybe not much, but you win; with war all is lost. All! And so-called victories are defeats,” the head of the Catholic Church said on Italian Rai 1 television program “A Sua Immagine” on Sunday.

It was the pontiff’s first appearance in a major television studio. Until now, Francis gave television interviews from the Vatican or via video link.

Asked about his state of health, the pope replied jokingly: “I am still alive”.

Francis’ appearance on the TV show was scheduled for late March, but didn’t happen because that day the pope was taken to hospital with respiratory problems and was treated for three days.
