Cherevat: The intensity of the Russian attack in the direction of Bakhmut has decreased significantly

The Russian army continues to shell the positions of Ukrainian forces near the town of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, but only one military clash took place there in the last day, the spokesman of the Eastern Group of Ukrainian armed forces, Serhiy Cherevat, reported Ukrinform.

“Occupiers opened fire with various weapons 250 times in the direction of Bakhmut. In response, our forces also carried out strikes, 80 occupants were killed, 99 were injured and one Russian soldier was captured. Three self-propelled howitzers, an electronic warfare system and an ammunition warehouse were destroyed,” S. Cherevats said.

According to him, now that the Russian army is changing ranks, the mercenaries of the “Vagner” group are being replaced by other units.

S. Cherevats also provided an update on the situation near Kupiansko. According to him, the enemy fired artillery there 342 times, there were two military clashes, the invaders from Russia staged three air attacks. 20 occupants were killed, 52 were injured. In addition, the Ukrainian army destroyed a Russian D-20 howitzer weapon.

S. Cherevats described the actions of the Russian mercenary group “Vagner” as an escape from the battlefield. He said that despite Russian media reports of so-called successes and goals achieved, the Russian military has been unable to fully capture Bakhmut over the past 10 months. Replacing the remnants of the Wagner group can be compared to fleeing the battlefield after defeat, added S. Cherevats.
