The question of the withdrawal of Ukrainian soldiers from the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region is not discussed, the situation there is under control.
Andrijus Kovaliovas, the representative of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this on Wednesday, reports Interfax – Ukraine.
“It would be strange to withdraw from Bakhmut now that the situation there is under control.” We are pushing back the Russian occupiers,” he said during a TV marathon.
The representative of the General Staff added that as long as there are basements in the city, as long as there is an opportunity to defend and maintain the territory, Ukrainian soldiers will stay there.
According to A. Kovaliov, the Russians are now using all their forces to reach the administrative borders of the Donetsk region.
“This is probably the purpose of the so-called special military operation that the occupiers are talking about, so that Putin can show something to his constituents,” added A. Kovaliov.
