Minister: Poland will send an official request for tanks to Germany when the relevant coalition is formed

Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau said that Warsaw will send an official request to Berlin for the supply of “Leopard 2” tanks to Ukraine when the relevant coalition of states is formed.

As the “eurointegration” portal writes, he announced this on Monday in Brussels after the meeting of foreign ministers of EU countries.

“It is important that Poland is not alone, that there is a large group of like-minded countries,” said the head of Polish diplomacy.

Z. Rau stressed that Poland is ready to send the Leopard 2 tank to Ukraine, regardless of the decision of other countries.

According to him, the issue of tanks was raised at the ministerial meeting, but was not discussed in detail, as it is not related to the EU mandate.

On Monday, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced that his country intends to formally approach Germany about the possibility of transferring German Leopard main battle tanks from its arsenal to Ukraine.
