“97 compatriots from Mexico arrived in Venezuela on a flight from our peace airline Conviasa. Thanks to President Nicolás Maduro’s humanitarian mission, which created the Vuelta a la Patria plan to reach those who need it most,” Venezuela’s Transport Minister Ramón Velázquez said on Twitter.

More than 30,000 Venezuelans who had emigrated to other countries who fled the economic and political crisis have returned to the country under a government plan, according to the executive branch.

Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Carlos Faria asked the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Tuesday for cooperation and technical assistance to “modernize” the country’s migration policy.

“We hope to have IOM’s cooperation and technical assistance to help us strengthen our domestic and consular capacity and constructively assist Venezuelan migrants, especially in safe and orderly returns,” the official was quoted as saying in a press release. .

Faria, who spoke before the IOM board yesterday, explained that the government has created a national migration commission that seeks to “renew, modernize and strengthen migration policies” in the territory, adding, “to take care of our migrants wherever they are.”
