A former Lithuanian tennis player was arrested in the United States for child sex abuse

A former Lithuanian professional tennis player, Kasparas Žemaitėlis, 26, has received a very serious charge in the United States – a man working as a coach is suspected of sexually assaulting a minor on several occasions.

The bail set by the court for the release of the Lithuanian is 10 million. U.S. dollars. Reports indicate that the victim is not the only one and that there may be more victims of the male sexual abuse.

K. Žemaitėlis, arrested in Sacramento, was charged with 10 counts.

He worked as a personal trainer and coached kids in Sacramento County in 2019-22.

K. Žemaitėlis was considered a promising Lithuanian tennis player. Four years ago, together with Tad Babelis, he became the winner of the doubles competition of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures Series tournament “Venden Futures Cup” in Latvia.

At 17, K. Žemaitėlis represented the Lithuanian national team in the Davis Cup match against the Portuguese. Then the Lithuanians lost 0:5, and Lukas Mugevičius, Dovydas Šakinis and Mantas Bugailiškis also played in the team.

K. Žemaitėlis until 2018. played in various ITF doubles and singles tournaments, then began a coaching career.
