Brazdeikis, after hearing Jokubaitis reprimand, is happy to work with NBA centers

Ignas Brazdeikis returned to the Lithuanian men’s basketball team after a break and led them to victory in the second round of preparation for the European Championship. The newcomer from “Žalgiris” Kaunas delighted the Alytus fans with an impressive goal, but he himself accepted Roko Jokubaitis’ reproach.

In the second half, the athlete ran alone in front of the basket of the Estonian national team and pushed the ball into it with his back turned. R. Jokubaitis loudly asked to place the “grinder”, and after hearing this, I. Brazdeikis admitted that he could have placed it even more efficiently.

“I also felt I could putt better. But it was my first game after the break, so I didn’t want to overdo it,” smiled the basketball player after the 90:88 win over Estonia, who also sees room for improvement in the team’s play.

“We let the opponents shoot too many three-pointers, we could have done better in defence. You have to learn from your mistakes and move on. We will play smarter next time. We took good care of the ball, we can also play more effectively in attack,” said I. Brazdeikis.

The former NBA basketball player is pleased that Jonas Valančiūnas and Domantas Sabonis, who until now could only work individually, are already training with the national team.

“It’s good that they are already with us. These top basketball players increase the level of competition and energy in training. We are very happy to be in the national team with them. We will improve mutual interaction and trying to be a good team,” said “Iggy.”
