Last Lithuanian boxer to leave European Championship complains about ringside judge

Edgaras Skurdelis, the last representative of the Lithuanian national team, took part in the ring of the European Men’s Boxing Championship in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, on Wednesday. In the first fight in the weight category up to 60 kg, he met Edinas Alkovičius from Montenegro.

In the first round, all five judges won E. Skurdelis 10:9. In the second round, the Lithuanian did not take away the initiative and again all the judges were on E’s side. Skurdelis.

But at the start of the third round, the ring judge stopped the fight for the Lithuanian boxer’s broken eyebrow.

A Norwegian judge ruled that the blood appeared after a blow from a Montenegrin man, although E. Skurdelis claimed it was the result of a head-on collision. In this case, the points collected before the decision to end the fight would be counted. At that time, the points awarded by all five judges were in favor of the Lithuanian 20:18.

However, the victory was attributed to the opponent of E. Skurdelis.

The Lithuanian delegation protested against the decision of such a ring judge, but according to the regulations of the European Boxing Confederation (EUBC), the results cannot be reviewed.
