Premier League winners expect Walsall to beat Southampton in FA Cup

PREMIER League winner Chris Sutton has predicted Walsall will play an FA Cup tie against Saints on Saturday.

The League Two side travel to St Mary’s this weekend after beating Grimsby 6-1 on New Year’s Day.

The victory extended their winning streak to three games, including victories over Wrexham and Crewe Alexandra.

Matt Sadler’s side currently sit 11th in League Two but have won five of their last six league games.

On the other hand, the Saints, 56 places above their opponents in the pyramid, have not tasted defeat since late September.

In his predictions column for the BBC, the retired striker said: “Southampton are unbeaten in their last 18 league games.”

“But I’m willing to bet her boss Russell Martin is focused on her promotion prospects. “Walsall beat Grimsby 6-1 on Monday so they will be full of confidence.”

Earlier this season, Southampton were knocked out of the League Cup by League Two side Gillingham, losing 3–1.
