SOUTHERN Vipers batsman Maya Bouchier has secured her first central contract with the ECB.
The 24-year-old has made 25 caps for England since making her international debut against New Zealand in 2021.
She scored 317 runs in 17 international innings and has a career high of 95, which she scored in her second one-day international innings.
Adam Carty, regional director of women’s cricket, said: “We have always seen international experience in Maya’s game.”
“After a fantastic season in terms of strike rates across the three formats in 2023, I am delighted that she has received her well-deserved reward.”
“She is a wonderful person with a great work ethic. “I’m sure she will be an important player for England for many years to come.”
There were four other Southern Vipers players whose central contracts were renewed, while Danny Wyatt, Lauren Bell, Charlie Dean and Freya Kemp are still under contract.
Carty continued: “The Vipers are extremely proud of the players who have performed so superbly for the Orange and Blacks and achieved international success in recent years.”
“We look forward to supporting them as they continue to do great things for both countries and we really look forward to seeing the club achieve success in 2024.”
