Former coach of La Roja Nelson Acosta is urgently admitted after suffering respiratory arrest

Early this Saturday morning Nelson Acosta was urgently admitted to the Isamédica Clinic in Rancagua after suffering a respiratory arrest on Friday night.

As reported by TNT Sports that “close people say that his present is very delicate and has required intensive care.”

The medical center where Acosta is hospitalized published a statement informing that the former technical director of the Chilean soccer team is in the Intermediate Care Unit.

“According to what was expressly and literally requested by his family, Mr. Nelson Acosta López is hospitalized, receiving all the pertinent medical attention and care and in the company of his family, who appreciates the concern for his health, the support received and requests understanding to maintain the necessary privacy and confidentiality at this time,” the statement said.

In 2021, the former DT de la Roja had already gone through a complex health moment and was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit.

Acosta, 78, has seen his health deteriorate since he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2017.

The coach had an important career in football, where he commanded La Roja in France 1998 and the bronze medal for the team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
