New Saints International Lavia called up to Belgium squad for the first time

SAINTS midfielder Romeo Lavia has been called up for the first time by Belgium for the upcoming EURO qualifiers.

The 19-year-old starlet was supposed to challenge for the world title last year but was sidelined by injury between August and November.

Lavia could make his debut for the Red Devils when they play Sweden or Germany later this month. Lavia regularly played for the national youth team of his country.

On March 24, Belgium will visit Sweden, and on March 28 they will host the hosts of the 2024 tournament, Germany, in a friendly match, as the hosts have already qualified for the tournament.

The Red Devils are now led by Domenico Tedesco after Roberto Martinez’s six-year stint ended with his elimination from the group stage at the World Cup in Qatar last month.

Other Saints players participating in the upcoming international break include Gavin Bazunu (Republic of Ireland), Will Smallbone (Republic of Ireland), Che Adams (Scotland), Stuart Armstrong (Scotland) and Sam Edosi (England U20).
