Che Adams: ‘Everything is moving in the right direction’ under Jones

Frontman Che Adams said “all you can do is do what the club wants” while working with the new manager and insisted that Nathan Jones have a Saints side.

The Scotland international came out after scoring twice in Jones’ first home game at St Mary’s in a 2-1 home win over Lincoln City on Tuesday.

Former Luton Town boss Jones replaced Ralph Hasenhuttle at St Mary’s last month and has been hard at work with his team during the World Cup break.

The Saints will play Jones’ first Premier League home game on Boxing Day when they play Brighton at St Mary’s (3pm).

Asked if the mindset in the team has changed since Jones arrived, Adams told the Daily Echo: “Absolutely. It’s always different when a new manager comes in.

“He has his people, his ideas, and the hardest part is getting the guys on board, but I think he has it, you know? Now there are a lot of guys and a few older guys.

“Everyone is moving in the right direction, everyone is looking forward to the second half of the season. As you know, we need victories.”

The Saints resume their league in the top three with 12 points in 15 games played.

Adams responded: “As a player, you can only do what the club wants.

“That’s what the club wanted, so now we have to play on the pitch, because now we have to win.”
