From the political sphere, Agustín Moreno, United We Can deputy in the Madrid Assembly – signed by Pablo Iglesias for the 2021 Madrid elections – at the head of education; and Santiago de Compostela councilor Marta Lois, professor of political and social sciences at the University of Santiago, who will be responsible for the area of ​​care.

A new country, but “no fit and beginning”

Diaz, who was “proud” of the sectoral coordinators and thanked them for their commitment, said it was necessary to create a “better” country, but to do it quietly, “not in starts”. “These are not stories or running,” he added at a team coordinators’ presentation in Madrid, before advocating “weaving a movement of citizens” and “thinking about each pending task.”

Thus, he explained that the idea is to formulate the country’s project in the estimated time of a decade, arguing that the face should be “long” and “deep”. In this context, he warned that “the future does not include election time”. On the contrary, “Sumar” does not want to “limit imagination with the ballot box or electoral list”, he clarified.

“We need ten years and we’re doing it now, otherwise it won’t be possible,” he added, also highlighting the chosen methodology he “likes” the most: “dialogue, really listening” and “confrontation” if necessary. Because it’s not happening.”

According to the second vice-president, the project should end with a new democratic and social contract that is “green, feminist, that has young people in it, that is intergenerational.”
