PSOE expels Joaquin Leguina for supporting Isabel Dias Ayuso.
The former president of the Community of Madrid, Joaquín Leguina, has been expelled as a PSOE fighter who opened a case against him in 2021 for supporting Isabel Díaz Ayuso in the Madrid regional elections, socialist sources confirmed to EFE.
In May 2021, the PSOE federal executive opened an expulsion case against the former president of the Community of Madrid and the former general secretary of the party in Euskadi, Nicolas Redondo Terreros, for supporting Isabel Díaz Ayuso in the Madrid election campaign.
The decision to open the file was made after the PP candidate and the President of Madrid, as part of his institutional agenda, visited the Alma Tecnologica Foundation in April and were photographed with those who hold various positions of responsibility in the institution. After learning of the opening of the file, then-PP leader Pablo Casado publicly opened the door to the two: “Two patriotic social democrats who will always be welcome in this space of harmony,” he said on Twitter.
Socialist sources explained to EFE that this file was processed by the Party’s Committee of Guarantees and led to the expulsion of Joaquín Leguina, who was the first president of the Community of Madrid (between 1983 and 1995).
Sources in the Redondo Terreros case explain that the allegations he made when he opened the case were accepted, so he was not expelled.
