An Andorran judge is asking the national court for Villarejo’s audio recordings to investigate alleged kickbacks from the former owners of Banca Privada de Andorra.

The investigating judge from Andorra asked the national court to send the records of José Manuel Villarejo, shown in the macro-case where his private business is analyzed, “Tándem”, to investigate whether the now-retired commissioner received from Hygin. and Ramón Cierco, former president of Banca Privada de Andorra (BPA).

Legal sources confirm to Europa Press that Andorra’s petition has reached the Central Instructive Court Number 6, which is responsible for investigating the “Villarejo case”. The same sources indicate that the prosecutor’s office has been notified so that it can make a decision on the matter before accepting the request of the neighboring country.

Let us remind you that the Justice of Andorra is investigating, on the other hand, complaints against former Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, former Minister of Internal Affairs Jorge Fernandez Diaz and former Minister of Finance Cristóbal Montoro. Operation Catalonia.

In particular, extortion, coercion and blackmail have been investigated by national police agents since 2014 against those responsible for the BPA to “illegally” obtain the banking information of various Catalan rulers and their relatives, including former presidents Jordi Pujol and Arthur Massi and former vice president Oriol Junqueras .

The judge gives the green light to the commission

The Supreme Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM) gave the green light to the judicial commission issued by Andorra to inform Rajoy, Fernández Díaz and Montoro of their attribution for these complaints.

The TSJM thus agreed to withdraw the precautionary measure it had previously taken to immediately suspend the Andorran judicial commission. Thus, after this decision, the principality will receive the requested documentation from Spain and will have the green light against the investigation.

However, the court clarified that the fact of the petitioner’s admission cannot be confused with the defendant’s merits of the proceedings. The magistrates insisted that the legal aid serves to inform them that the procedure has started and to “guarantee a level playing field”.
