Teaching in Army Kindergartens: Almost Two Years Pay Bad and Late

In May 2022, the Ministry of Defense Awarded the kindergarten service First cycle (from 0 to 3 years). It was a framework contract (a service that would be repetitive, put out to tender to avoid launching different tenders every time it is needed) for 21 million euros and two years. It was awarded to the company Kidsco Balance SL, which has more than 500 employees, specializes in preschools and has been winning defense tenders for ten years. This company is also a contractor for other public sector organizations such as the Community of Madrid, Leganes City Council or, more recently, Madrid Airport, whose “day care service” was awarded 270,000 euros just 10 days ago through another company. Same property, Kidsco Servicios Infantiles.

With this agreement, the Ministry of Defense signed 37 preschool centers throughout Spain for the Army, Air Force and Navy. Thus, soldiers and commanders can leave their children under the age of three, paying about 50% of the cost of the tax (which was set at 355 euros per month), and the rest is subsidized by the Ministry itself with state money. Among other places, the company provides services to the Royal Guard in Madrid or the barracks in Rota, Ferrol or Paracuelos. On September 1, in the latest contract to appear on the public procurement platform, Kidsco was awarded 822,000 euros for the “operation of an educational center” contracted by the Municipality of Madrid, an organization owned by the Navy.
