BURGER locked a 1990s man outside his own home while he was stealing jewelry at Hedge End.
Michael Patrick Cowley, 26, secured the door chain from the inside when he stole items from a home in St. Catherine’s View, Hedge End.
The owner, a man in his 90s, came home and found he couldn’t get in.
The police were called to enter the premises and found that some jewelry had been stolen.
Cowley’s DNA was later found outside a window at the back of the house.
Analysis of his cell phone also led him to the area on the day of the burglary.
Cowley, of Manor Park, Kidlington, pleaded guilty to a burglary that took place from 9:00 pm on January 26, 2022 to 7:45 am on January 27, 2022.
On Thursday, Southampton Crown Court sentenced him to 15 months in prison.
