A man was kidnapped in broad daylight and later beaten in a “terrible” ordeal, reported Saturday afternoon.
Two men were arrested in connection with the incident.
Police say the victim, in her 30s, was pushed into a blue Citroen Berlingo van by two men in the Upper Dunmurry Lane area shortly after lunch.
He was later attacked and suffered injuries that police say are not life-threatening.
A 30-year-old man was charged on Sunday afternoon with a range of offences, including kidnapping, assault, burglary with intent to steal, possession of an assault weapon in a public place and possession of a Class C controlled drug .
He is expected to appear at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Monday 16 January.
As usual, all charges will be investigated by the prosecutor
PSNI Detective Sergeant McCartan said: “Just after 12pm it was reported that a man was forced into the back of a blue Citroen Berlingo bus by two men in the area of Upper Dunmurry Lane before leaving the Michael Ferguson roundabout was driven away.
“At this time we believe the victim, in his 30s, may have been driving the van for two to three hours.
“At one stage he was taken to a nearby property where he was attacked and suffered a number of injuries which are not currently believed to be life-threatening.
Police arrested a man in his 30s shortly afterwards on suspicion of various crimes, and he is currently being held in custody.
“This has been a terrible ordeal for the victim and while our investigation continues we would like to speak to anyone who was in the area of Upper Dunmurry Lane, Colin, Poleglass or Twinbrook in Dunmurry between 12pm and 4pm yesterday and has anything saw what could help. us.” .
“We would also like to hear from anyone who has relevant dashcam, CCTV or other video footage. The number to call is 101, with reference 709 dated 01/14/23.”
