The UGT and CCOO assured this week that Twitter Spain dismissed almost all employees by mail and made available to professionals for advice, challenge and condemnation of the social network considering that the dismissal is void.
In particular, the Secretary General of the UGT, Pepe Alvarez, said that Twitter Spain has dismissed 26 employees and warns that “they will have to reinstate all of them” because “it should be done as a collective dismissal” in addition to opening. Consultation period, negotiation 15 days and notify the labor authority.
“Failure to do so will invalidate the dismissal,” a union spokesperson emphasized in a post on Twitter.
These dismissals, according to Alvarez, speak to the need to restore the administrative power of collective dismissals, because “the people cannot be so vulnerable.” “It was pending in the last reform and it is clear that we have to return to it,” he admitted.
For this reason, he ensured that they report this dismissal to the labor inspectorate and make it available to professionals to take legal action. “A social and legal state should not allow a person, no matter how rich, to leave people unemployed by violating their rights. Yu-Gi-T is going to fight,” assured Pepe Alvarez.
In turn, the CCOO has also been made available to advise workers on this situation. “It seems that at 17:30 yesterday evening, almost all the employees of Twitter in Spain received an email about their dismissal,” the organization’s general secretary, Unai Sordo, posted this Saturday on his account on the social network.
