Minister Jeannette Jara is honest after meeting with AFP: “We have stated and reiterated our intention that the industry end”

The Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Jeannette Jara, held a meeting with the new president of the Association of Pension Fund Administrators (AAFP), Paulina Yazigi. In the instance, the Secretary of State opened up and communicated the idea that the AFP system should end.

The meeting -of a protocol nature- took place in the Ministry premises with a duration of 45 minutes. The undersecretary of Social Welfare, Christian Larraín, also participated; Constanza Bollmann and Roberto Fuentes, general manager and study manager of the union, respectively.

In the meeting, Jara addressed the pension agenda of the Government of President Gabriel Boric, emphasizing the pension reform that the Executive is currently processing in the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies, which has already been approved in general by the Labor and Social Security Commission of said Corporation.

After the appointment, Jara pointed out that “as a government, we have stated and reiterated our intention that the AFP industry end.” The foregoing, in order to “make way for a system in which there is a public service in support activities and various investors, both public and private, where people can exercise their right to choose.”

“We hope that the reform continues its course and that the focus is placed, more than on a certain industry, on retirees and contributors, with the aim of increasing the amount of pensions,” concluded Minister Jara.
