The Government of President Gabriel Boric announced that it reached an agreement with public sector workers and will present a bill to adjust the salaries of officials with salaries of less than $2.2 million by 12%.
The information was confirmed by the Minister of Finance, Mario Marcel, who confirmed that the agreement was reached with the various associations of public workers, represented by the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores (CUT).
Specifically, the measure includes a 12% readjustment for public workers with a gross monthly salary of less than $2.2 million, and $264,000 for officials with a salary higher than the aforementioned.
In this regard, the Secretary of State stated that “this agreement contemplates a 12% readjustment for all workers with monthly gross income of up to $2.2 million, and a readjustment of a fixed amount of $264,000 for workers with income above $2.2 million”.
After the CPI figures for October, which marked an accumulated increase of 11.4% so far in 2022, the head of the fiscal wallet pointed out that the delivery of some specific benefits will be regularized.
“Along with this, values have been agreed for Christmas bonuses and national holidays, school and vacation bonus, and a series of other benefits, including workers with the lowest income, and from extreme areas of the country,” he declared. Likewise, he announced that he hopes that on Monday of next week the readjustment project can be entered into the public sector, in order to begin the legislative process of the measure.
