The release date for the second season of The Tourist, starring Jamie Dornan and Danielle Macdonald, has been confirmed.

The new series of the hit thriller starts on New Year’s Day on the BBC.

All episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer from Monday 1 January at 6am, with the first episode airing on BBC One at 9pm.

The second Tourist series sees the return of BAFTA and Golden Globe nominees Jamie Dornan (Belfast, The Fall) and Danielle Macdonald (Unbelievable and Dumplin’).

The six-part thriller was created and written by Jack and Harry Williams and produced by Two Brothers Pictures.

A BBC spokesperson added: “Against the stunning backdrop of Ireland, Elliot and Helen face friends and foes alike.

As they try to unravel the secrets of Elliot’s past, they soon become embroiled in a long-running family feud where they face the dangerous consequences of his past actions.

“Series one opened with 11.4 million viewers in the UK and took the title of Britain’s most-watched drama of 2022 across all platforms. Internationally, series one sales spanned five continents, with the show reaching from South Korea to Scandinavia watched and crowned. .” Winner of three Golden Nymph Awards at the Monte Carlo Television Festival, including “Best Series,” the festival’s highest honor.

Series 1 of The Tourist is available on BBC iPlayer.
