Asda has launched free cooked breakfasts for children across Northern Ireland this six months.

As part of an exclusive partnership with Quaker Oats, a free bowl of oatmeal will be offered February 9-22 from 8 a.m. to noon.

The new free offer means families can now get both a free children’s breakfast and main meal for just £1 in all Asda cafes, continuing to help customers navigate the cost of living crisis.

Asda Chief Commercial Officer Kris Comerford says; “We know that preparing families for the school holidays can often put additional pressure on household budgets, especially feeding and entertaining their children. We remain committed to supporting our customers through these challenging times.

“Our coffee shop initiatives have continued to be a lifesaver for over 1.5 million customers since their launch last year, and we hope that by offering a free hot breakfast in February, we can help many more customers in the coming weeks .”

The £1 offer on children’s main courses has been extended

Divesh Parmar, general manager, Quaker Oats UK, says: “It’s so important that everyone has access to breakfast to start the day, which is why we’ve teamed up with Asda to offer free Quaker Oats porridge to children this spring break. In addition to our new Share the Warmth campaign, we can make a small contribution to bring a hot, nutritious breakfast to people who really need it this winter.”

The partnership with Quaker Oats aims to make it possible to serve more than 50,000 bowls of oatmeal to children across the country.

To date, more than £1.1m of meals have been sold, with the retailer seeing a tenfold increase in meals served during key school holidays.

100,000 meals were served during the Christmas holidays in December, compared to 40,000 meals sold at the end of November.

The current Kids for £1 menu includes a choice of six hot meals (*in selected cafes) or an offer on a pick-and-mix cold sandwich menu for just £1.
