Someone else’s shoes can easily become a source of dangerous infections.
Expert Elena Ershova explained why you should never agree to wear slippers when visiting. This can cause mycosis (infection of the feet and nails by pathogenic fungi).
You should also not wear “public shoes” in swimming pools, saunas, baths, massage rooms or solariums. If you do not have a spare shoe, wipe the provided shoe with a damp disinfectant wipe containing alcohol.
If you had to wear someone else’s shoes, wash your feet thoroughly with soap and treat with an antifungal medication. To disinfect shoes, you can use special pharmaceutical sprays or folk remedies such as acetic acid solution, chlorhexidine and others, LIFE reports.
