So far, the density of new infections has been kept to a minimum.
A new dangerous strain of covid could emerge within six years at the latest. This estimate was given by Pavel Volchkov, a virologist and head of the MIPT Genomic Engineering Laboratory.
According to him, new strains appear as a result of numerous mutations of infection in humans. The virus literally evolves inside each of us and acquires the necessary mutations. As a result of their accumulation, the formation of flakes occurs.
The virologist says that the density of new infections has been minimized due to the population’s significant immunity to coronavirus.
“It will take some time for COVID-19 to flare up with renewed vigor. “Based on the dynamics of the coronavirus mutation, I think that a new danger associated with a large number of diseases and deaths should not be expected in six years or sooner.”
Previously, WHO had warned of a worse risk of a pandemic than covid.
