Vladislav Zhemchugov, doctor of medical sciences, immunologist, specialist in especially dangerous infections, commented on the risks of measles epidemic in Russia.
The doctor noted that the risks continued until the immune layer reached 80-90% in all groups.
For prediction, it is necessary to cut the layer of immunity against measles between children and adults with different vaccination periods. After that, the threat of the epidemic will become clear.
“What are the prerequisites? First, not everyone is vaccinated as they used to, according to the vaccination schedule: one year and six years. And the elderly population is not vaccinated at all. Now there is such a situation that there are many children who are not vaccinated. Secondly, these are people after they moved – immigrants, ”the expert said, according to the RT TV channel.
