Sleep deprivation can cause a variety of diseases, including obesity, said Gianluca Rossato, a neurologist at the Sacro Cuore Italian Research Clinical Institute.
According to the expert, it is necessary to sleep eight hours a day, not seven.
“There are pathologies associated with chronic lack of sleep that last for years. They increase the risk of diabetes and obesity, as well as high blood pressure and heart problems, by affecting the metabolism. Sleeping is bad and does little damage to the immune system, ”says the MK specialist.
In particular, insomnia leads to a decrease in the production of a hormone responsible for satiety. As a result, people often eat “junk” high-calorie foods and gain weight.
Previously, Spanish scientists identified a link between air conditioning and the level of human obesity.
