David Tennant will pull out his hottest jacket when he makes his presenting debut at the EE Bafta Film Awards 2024 next month.

The 52-year-old Doctor Who star, who recently made a triumphant return to his career to celebrate the series’ 60th anniversary, received both nominations and awards from Bafta Cymru and Bafta Scotland.

But it’s the first time he’s taken to the stage at one of the biggest – and glitziest – nights in British showbiz.

He follows in the footsteps of last year’s hosts Alison Hammond and Richard E. Grant – who were also supported by Ariana DeBose’s unforgettable rap.

“I’m delighted to have been asked to present the EE BAFTA Film Awards and help celebrate the best films of this year and the many brilliant people who bring them to life,” the Good Omens actor said of the role was announced.

This excitement goes both ways, with Bafta boss Jane Millichip saying Bafta was “over the moon” that Tennant would be presenting the film awards.

The longlists for all 24 categories of the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2024, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress, will be released on Friday. Nominations will be announced on Thursday, January 18 via live stream by Naomi Ackie and Kingsley Ben-Adir.

Films expected to receive multiple nominations include Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” and Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie’s “Barbie” and Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

Bradley Cooper’s Leonard Bernstein biopic Maestro is a Netflix hopeful, while Poor Things’ Emma Stone and May December’s leading ladies Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman have drawn plenty of attention.

The EE Rising Star Award is back for 2024 and is the only gong where the winner is voted by the British public.

Voting is open from 10 January to 16 February 2024 at 12pm at ee.co.uk/BAFTA.

The EE BAFTA Film Awards 2024 ceremony will take place at the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Center and will be broadcast on BBC One and iPlayer on Sunday 18 February.
