BBC Northern Ireland has commissioned a brand new series of beauty queen and single.
Sony Pictures Television owner Stellify Media’s dating show challenges self-proclaimed “beauty queens” to “leave behind their flawless perfection and embrace their natural beauty” by going on five dates with five men without an ounce of makeup.
The new four-part series will be filmed in Belfast over the summer.
The format was also adopted for a third series in 2023 at the YLE Areena in Finland.
The first series of Beauty Queen & Single was broadcast on BBC One NI in 2017 and won Best Comedy and Entertainment Program at the Royal Television Society Northern Ireland Awards that year.
The show was also broadcast on BBC Scotland and BBC Wales, and the format even made its way to YLE Finland and NPO 3 in the Netherlands – each with two episodes.
Matthew Worthy, Joint Managing Director of Stellify Media, said: “Beauty Queen & Single is our favorite show on Stellify. It’s been great to see a hit find such a huge international audience at home – and now we’re delighted to welcome it home.
Kieran Doherty, joint managing director of Stellify Media, said: “We’ve always known that Beauty Queen & Single took you wherever you wanted. It’s a universal theme about finding love that’s also timeless, so it’s really exciting to be doing another series for BBC NI.”
