The company “Gren Lietuva” of the northern European energy group “Gren” requests authorization from the Competition Council to acquire 100%. The company “Šiluma miestas” controlled by the “E Energija” group, which manages heat production and supply companies in Akmene, Klaipėda, Trakai, Lentvary, Vilnius and Visaginas.
According to the board, notification of the deal was received last Friday. After acquiring the company Šiluma miestas, Gren Lietuva will also indirectly acquire the companies Kirtimų katilinė, Pramonės energija, Karlų katilinė, Akmenės energija, Šilo katilinė, Trakų energija and Miesto energija.
It was announced in April that the deal was expected to close in the second half of 2022, but its value was not disclosed.
The head of “Gren Lietuva” Vitalijus Žuta then said that by buying additional production capacity, 90% of whose energy is produced from biomass, the company continues its “green development”.
The acquired companies supply about 320 gigawatt hours of thermal energy per year, their total production capacity is 162 megawatts. The companies have 110 employees.
Until now, “Gren” provided heat to residents and businesses in Klaipėda, Kaunas, Joniškis and Švenčioni.
