According to him, the quantity of fruits and vegetables collected from farms has more than quadrupled compared to the same period last year.
A study commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture shows that 393.8 tonnes of food are lost every year in Lithuania. The largest share is 61 percent. is lost in households, followed by agriculture (21%), traders (12%).
The amount of food wasted globally reaches 1.3 billion tonnes per year, or about a third of all food produced and grown each year.
“Maisto Bankas” from Lithuania saved 6,193 tons of good food last year and has for many years been the European leader in terms of the amount of food saved per capita.
