Clothing retailer M&Co will begin closing its stores, with some branches closing within a week.
This comes after the chain formerly known as Mackay’s went into administration in December 2022 for the second time in two years.
The Teneo administration puts the company up for sale with an auction deadline set for interested buyers.
His brand and intellectual property has been sold to Yours Clothing, but the stores have not closed and will continue to do so.
When do M&Co stores close?
The Sun reported that the first M&Co stores to close are Wick and Fort William stores.
The closure was confirmed on both stores’ Facebook pages on Saturday, March 25.
After that, the Thurso branch will be closed on Tuesday 28 March.
The six stores will then close in Lewis, Gosport, Beccles, Belper, Newquay and Lerwick on Saturday, April 1st.
All 170 M&Co stores will eventually close, but this is the first to be confirmed.
M&Co has been drastically cutting online and in-store sales by 30-60% in recent weeks to get rid of leftover merchandise.
People have to act quickly if they need clothes, because once things are sold, they disappear forever.
You can find your nearest M&Co store by visiting the merchant’s website and using the store locator.
