Telefónica and the unions agreed on Tuesday to implement a salary review for the employees of its Spanish subsidiary, for which they will receive a 7.8% increase from January this year. According to union sources, this revaluation complies with the clauses of the agreement, which were related to the evolution of the real CPI between 2019 and 2022. The agreement provides for an increase of 6.3% due to salary revision and 1.5% already promoted. this year.

The current collective agreement stipulates that at the end of this four-year period, wages will be revised if price increases are higher than agreed-upon improvements in wages and consolidated benefits. At a meeting this Tuesday, Telefónica and the unions agreed that CPI growth was 12.5% over the period compared to 6.2% wage growth.

This 6.3% increase will take effect from this January. This is on top of the 1.5% wage increase already agreed this year. Thus, the two increases provided for in the contract will allow the workers of Telefónica de España, Telefónica Móviles and Telefónica Soluciones to increase their wages by 7.8%. In addition, as already agreed for 2023, €300 will be paid to the entire team in October. It is a collective of 13,000 workers.

Yu-Gi-T, which issued a statement on the agreement, noted that the culmination of the negotiations is a “triumph of the value of collective bargaining” as a tool for wealth redistribution, stressing that negotiation, consensus and guarantees are “the only way. Real’ to grow as ‘people, as a team and as a company’.

In addition to negotiating with non-union employees, Telefónica is also sitting at the table with representatives of workers at Telyco, its convenience store subsidiary, to agree on wage increases and contract extensions.

Also, Yu-Gi-T took advantage of this announcement and called on the company to start a negotiation process to renew the salaries of the employees outside the contract.
